Shopping Terror (Black Friday and Sales)

Whoa, the fear of missing out on good deals has kept my brain busy and going in all directions. It was Black Friday yesterday, but there’s still Cyber Monday coming up and offers that will last for however long stores want them to last. The holidays being right ahead.

I almost skipped writing an article today because of the overwhelm that I’m currently experiencing. But also, there’s nothing to sell you here at HorrorSerum (yet)! No fun to go off-topic in the middle of it either, so what am I to do? Talk about shopping terror? Fine, let’s do just that.

Black Friday (2021)

Don’t you just love the ability to make online purchases from the safety and comfort of your home? Where you’re not literally pushed or trampled on by other customers nor have to wait in long lines that others try to or even successfully cut into? Where you can easily browse countless products and the risk you take is buying something that’ll give you buyer’s remorse? Actually, that can be rough too. So you might get anxious over it and obsess over what you should or shouldn’t buy, what is or isn’t a smart and sensible choice, what do you even deserve. It might cause you to want to aggressively flip the table and walk away in rage because there’s just too freaking much to consider. THANK GOODNESS for trustworthy experts and guides that help simplify this for you!

In the case of living inside a horror story, you might run the risk of getting a Chucky or some other haunted doll, like Annabelle. Chances are you’re not, you know, inside a horror story of that sort - and what a relief! But if you are… Please try not to do the Stupid Things People Do in Horror Movies, to increase your chances of survival.

Besides haunted dolls and creepy toys one brings or has delivered home, though, there’s the chaos that can manifest inside a physical store. And recently, I happened to watch a couple of movies that deal with that.

Black Friday (2021)
There’s Black Friday. If you want to be extra seasonal, you’re not too late. Or if you’re curious about how they’d go about such a topic.
Slaxx (2020)
And there’s Slaxx. About killer… jeans at a clothing store. Sounds ridiculous and it is.

Both of these are comedies. Can you even be fully serious with these premises? However, if you really want to have a laugh, what I recommend is a movie that takes place in an office building instead, where the manufacturing of a product goes awfully wrong.

Office Uprising (2018)
It’s quite clever and kind of sweet too. If you ask me.

A common theme in all of them is the stress of being overworked by corporate hell, so they also act in parts as a way to blow off some steam or to get some comic relief. If that’s something you’re in need of or intrigued by, check them out. (Be warned, though, they can be offensive.)

Are you overworked? Who gives you the most trouble? Your boss, your coworkers, or your customers?
